Regarding the start of “My Crypto Saga” Battle Beta Test
The Battle Beta Test of “My Crypto Saga” (MCS) will now commence on Jan 1st, 2021 for three days.
As we reported during the Tokyo Blockchain Contents Conference earlier this year, we have made a major conceptual changes to MCS.
Background
The original product was a game which featured 1v1 to 100v100 strategic battles on a strategic map using Web3D.
We completed the development for the Battle Beta Test, but were not convinced internally of its level of fun. Furthermore we judged that it would be difficult to make it a viable business within the current blockchain games landscape while incurring increased development and operation costs compared to MCH.
Thus we made the decision to redesign the game from the concept up.
Unlike app games developed with mature 3D engines such as Unity, 3D development in HTML5 is more difficult due to the lack of mature engines, but the quality is inferior to that of app games. Thus again, we decided that the cost was not worth the challenge.
Pivoting to something New
Starting a new we created an analog (paper card) prototype of the basic game system and re-conducted internal testing.
In reviewing the old design of MCS we thought it was difficult to surpass MCH in terms of primitive fun with asynchronous auto-battles.
This time we pivoted to focusing on real-time battles between two to four players in-game, with GvG as the out-game element.
Although the pre-determined strength of the cards you own is a major factor in winning or losing, we added elements of psychology and communication to create a game where skill and luck are integral to strategy. In short, our game pivoted to something more traditionally poker-esque.
As for the UI/UX, as a 2D game we decided to keep the word “card” that we used in the analog prototype, but I believe the game is clearly different from existing TCGs and card battle social games.
In this Battle Beta Test, we invite all MCH users to participate and determine how interesting our new game is. More than anything we want to see if you find it fun!
With your participating in the Battle Beta Test we can improve the UIUX, adjust the balance, and collect opinions as well as data that will guide us in the future development of MCS.
We are sure that you will have many questions about the future schedule, specifications of unimplemented elements, sales, etc. We will announce them sequentially after the Battle Beta Test, so please be patient.
