As a leading trend in the fintech sector, cryptocurrencies have sparked interest in a sizeable population, particularly in Generation Z. What is crypto? How does it work? How will crypto evolve over the next 10 years? With curiosity on the rise, myCryptoHippo has entered the market as an education platform (both digital and in-person) intended to address the common questions pertaining to the crypto space.

Over the past couple of months, our CSR team — in collaboration with the Sales department — has been working hard to organize the Toronto Crypto Summit. The event, which will be taking place on March 9th, 2018 at LoyaltyOne, is meant to help youth and millennials become more “crypto-literate”.

Planning an event is no easy task. It takes tenacity and weeks of time to secure top-notch speakers, an immersive venue, and sponsors to bring an ambitious project to fruition. Finding an overall theme of the event entails long discussions, hours of consideration, and active debates among members. However, reaching an agreement from the brainstorming process is only the start of a tricky, but rewarding, journey.

But the key ingredient to a successful event? Communication.

Maintaining communication across all departments is essential. Without a centralized way to connect with other members, confusion is bound to happen. Specifically in event planning, all members should be well versed on the assignment of tasks and should reach consensus when making critical decisions. For instance, an overlap in tasks can lead to double-bookings, cancellations, and tiresome revisions, which can bring a seemingly trivial mistake into utter disorder. To keep everyone posted, we used Slack and Trello — two functions that help facilitate company-wide discussions, duties, and deadlines.

Although coordinating events can pose several challenges, the satisfaction of contributing to the community makes the journey more than worthwhile.

We are thrilled to present an evening full of inspiring speakers, stimulating discussions, and networking opportunities — all around the theme of the future of crypto. We are honoured to have Som Seif (CEO of Purpose Investments) as our keynote speaker, along with a panel of renown industry leaders who will impart their knowledge on crypto and share their experiences with a crowd of bright students. If interested, make sure to register here.

It’s true. The word, cryptocurrency, may appear to be a daunting topic laced with complexities. But once this fear is brought to a collaborative environment with the company of industry experts, it simply becomes a friendly subject hoping to go explored. By investing into your knowledge of crypto, you are investing into your future.
