Mydex CIC has not gone through under procurement 2 for GOV.UK Verify. Having spent the last two years since procurement 1 was awarded working on making sure the service was privacy friendly and could make use of verified attributes to underpin identity assurance, it makes sense that we focus on the core issue of making sure verified attributes are available as part of the process. Not being one of the organisations certified to carry out the identity assurance process means we can support all of the IdPs in their work with the UK population.

Mydex CIC’s ongoing role with GOV.UK Verify

This is the statement just issued by the Government Digital Service about Mydex’s ongoing role with GOV.UK Verify, and the government more broadly, on the policy and delivery areas within our specific areas of expertise around verified attribute exchange and consent management for data sharing.

We have recently concluded the process of setting up a new framework for certified companies.

Mydex CIC will not be a certified company in the next framework for identity providers. However, Mydex CIC will continue to work with the Identity Assurance Programme, and the government more broadly, on the policy and delivery areas within specific areas of its expertise around verified attribute exchange and consent management for data sharing.

Mydex CIC has been an important partner for GOV.UK Verify and, although it will no longer be one of the certified identity providers under GOV.UK Verify, that partnership is ongoing and they are already an approved G-Cloud 6 supplier for their live ISO27001 certified services.

Chris Ferguson, Director of the Identity Assurance Programme, said: “Mydex CIC has made a fantastic contribution to the development of GOV.UK Verify and we’ve greatly benefited from their input. We look forward to continuing to work with them through the OIX forum.”

Mydex CIC goals for citizens — the community they serve — remain aligned with HMG policy on respecting privacy and offering consent driven identity assurance and data sharing.

Mydex CIC will continue to participate in the development of open identity assurance services and trust frameworks alongside GOV.UK Verify and industry leaders from private sector businesses through OIX.

David Alexander, Mydex CIC founder and CEO, said: “Our understanding of wider sectors (health, local government, social housing third sector and industry) makes us a knowledgeable partner. As an OIX member, we are excited to contribute in practical ways to the range of ongoing projects that play to these strengths. We will also continue to work with other organisations in the private and public sector as they connect to the Mydex Platform.”

Business, economic and social value and impacts

Mydex CIC will continue to focus on serving individuals by enabling them to transact securely online and gain greater control over how the diverse range of data surrounding their lives is used — and by ensuring they can underpin their access to online services with verified attributes to deliver proofs of claim and status. This includes helping them prove their identity as part of a range of verification processes used across the public, private and third sectors.

We are working with organisations that are implementing secure, two-way data sharing with their customers, whether via traditional browser based services or the emerging use of API’s to support seamless transactions.

We provide our unique capability in a low cost manner as the secure, neutral layer with no commercial agenda that underpins government as a platform and the wider personal data economy. This enables a range of business, economic and social value and impacts to be delivered.

Mydex Identity Services and Mydex Two-way Data Sharing Services are available on G-Cloud via the GOV.UK Digital Marketplace. Find more information about connecting at gcloud.mydex.org.
