DApp Browser on MEW wallet iOS: Connect to Web3 Sites From Your iPhone
Have you ever created an Ethereum wallet, put some ETH on it, and thought ‘well, now what?’
You’re not alone. According to all the forums, chat groups, and even mainstream media, there’s so much to do with crypto — on Ethereum especially — but where is it and how do you connect?
Now, you can find all those web3 sites, or DApps, that work with crypto and require a wallet connection right in the MEW wallet app on your iPhone. Just go to the Browser tab, type the decentralized website name or URL in the search bar, and navigate to the web3 site. (Find a full guide to DApps on MEW wallet iOS in our Help Center.)
Easy connection, history, and bookmarks
Your wallet should connect automatically, but if not, just find the ‘Connect’ button on the site and select one of the following wallet options: Browser wallet, Trust wallet, or MetaMask.
Once you connect, your wallet will stay connected. Sites that you use get added to the ‘Recents’ history under the search field, so you can revisit them with one click. You can also bookmark any web3 site (or specific page within a site, just like with a regular browser) by tapping the star on the bottom of the screen.
Quickly switch between multiple accounts
If you have multiple accounts in your MEW wallet, you can easily switch between them by clicking on the small, colorful account icon on top left of the screen — no need to log out or reconnect.
You can dedicate separate addresses for specific DeFi operations or token collections, or categorize your web3 activity by any other parameter. Remember that while you know that all your addresses come from the same phrase and are managed in the same wallet, it’s not possible for a third party to determine whether a set of addresses was generated by the same wallet or not.
Security while browsing
The new in-app browser gives you the benefits of MEW wallet’s high security while exploring web3. Your wallet keys are protected by several layers of encryption and stored in a location on your device that is separated from the rest of the system and not shared with any apps. This means that none of the web3 apps that you interact with will have access to your wallet keys.
However, you still need to make sure you don’t interact with scam websites and be aware of the permissions you sign for the DApps (and of course, never ever type your recovery phrase into any site directly). The ability to switch between multiple accounts can be helpful here — if you want to interact with a website you are not entirely sure about, you could use an address that doesn’t hold a significant portion of your assets.
Built by MEW for you
The MEW wallet browser is not just a copy of any other web3 browser out there. We built it from scratch for our users, with more capabilities and supported functions, to make it work more reliably and smoothly with any DApp. So don’t just sit there. Finally do something with your ETH. Check out the MEW wallet iOS browser and let us know what you think.
Don’t have the app? Download it here! The in-app browser is also available on MEW wallet Android.
