Top Five Marketing Trends in May 2021

What do you understand by Marketing? Maybe some pretty definitions with heavy words like:

Marketing refers to all activities a company does to promote and sell products or services to consumers. Or, all the actions a company undertakes to draw on customers and maintain relationships with them.

But, trust me, Marketing is something much vast than this.

Business has only two functions — Marketing & Innovation-Milan Kundera

Marketing and Innovation work parallel. At the front-end of the innovation process, it contributes to the identification of future and new market opportunities and also research into customer needs.

Thus, according to that, marketing strategies can be set. Now comes the most interesting part. Trends! And the first thing that comes to our mind is a craze. Yes!

Innovation has indeed changed the Marketing Strategies and thus we need to understand what is the craze for and stay up to date with changes in consumer behaviour and priorities. Also, we need to ensure that we are ahead of the curve to know who your target audience is and what they need from your business.

Tip: Listen and respond to changes in the market to help you save money.

Let’s move on to the primary focus of our today’s blog. Top 5 trends in May that people went crazy for are:

a) Vaccination

b) Pantone

c) IPL Postponed

d) Friends Reunion

e) Online Graduation Party

A) Vaccination: When the entire world was waiting for vaccines, the Government announced that anyone above 18 years old will be eligible for vaccination. And BOOM!! Every brand more or less started marketing with the trend.

B) Pantone: Pantone is best known for its proprietary colour space used in a variety of industries like graphic design, print, fashion, textiles, and home.

In this pandemic, when everything seems shattered, people were finding hope in these colour palettes.

C) IPL Postponed: While the fans were praying for their favourite teams to win, a debate took place on the Social Media platforms. The topic was “Is IPL really needed in this pandemic? Or, it is a diversion?” The increasing COVID cases put a stop to every as well as postponed the IPL. #Followingthetrend everywhere we could find the news in some exceptional ways.

D) FRIENDS Reunion: Friends is an American television sitcom, which aired on NBC from September 22, 1994, to May 6, 2004. This TV series has a worldwide fan following. A reunion was supposed to be done last year but all thanks to the COVID again. Anyway finally, the Reunion took place on 27th May. And the entire world became dewy-eyed.

E) Online Graduation Party: Last but not the least, every college student more or less knows that there will be no Graduation Parties for them. And thus the trend has begun..

Conclusion:

Marketing is changing faster than at any point in history.

Technology solutions are creating new paradigms for brands to court, interact, and convert customers. Inspired by empathy and personalization, accelerated by data and visual platforms, and facilitated by mobile and social, marketers are more empowered now than ever.

MARKETING IS the most exciting of all business sports. It is the heartbeat of every successful business. It is continually changing in response to the explosion of information, the expansion of technology, and the aggressiveness of competition, at all levels and everywhere.

Last but not the least, Seth Godin said, “Don’t find customers for your products, find products for your customers.” What Godin means is to put our customers’ needs first. We must see the products as something that can help our customers; and not who will need our products.
