Mykonos Island, located in the Cyclades is a beautiful and one of the most desired travel destinations in the Mediterranean. It is a tricky situation to find all these on one destination; which makes Mykonos a unique travel spot. It is particularly famous for its sandy beaches and transparent waters. There is a beach for every taste and mood. Here are some of the popular beaches you can go to when in Mykonos.

Mykonos Agios Stefanos Beach

This is a sandy beach situated next to the new harbour, Tourlos. It is about 4 kilometres away from Mykonos town. It is ideal for those who do not have their own means of transport and do not like moving around much. It is well organized with travernas and is favourable for water sport activities.

Mykonos Ftelia Beach

This beach is situated on the northern part of the island and is most ideal for windsurfers, since it is exposed to strong northern winds. There is a restaurant that serves local cuisines to the visitors. To get access to this beach, a car or a taxi would be most suitable means.
Mykonos Panormos-Agios Sostis beaches
On the northern part of the island, a few kilometers away from Mykonos town, there are unique beaches which can be accessible only by private vehicle or taxi. The Panormos-Agio Sostis beaches are the best known unorganized beaches on the island. Most of the Greek celebrities prefer them since there is a secretive atmosphere surrounding it.

Mykonos Agia Anna - Kalafatis beaches

On the eastern part of the island are sandy beaches; one situated next to the other. Agia anna is a small beach with only a few small umbrellas on it. On the other hand, if you are a wind surfer or you are looking for a good offshore breeze, Kalafatis is the ideal beach for you. This is an organized beach that offers driving school classes and favors water sport activities. To access this beach, a bus ride would be the best means as there is a good road connection with the town.

Mykonos Platis Gialos Beach

On the southern coast of the island the longest and one of the most popular beaches on the island located only 4 kilometers away from the town. It is a cosmopolitan beach that was once a secluded and operated as a family friendly beach. At the Platis Gialos beach, you can hire a boat which you can use to access other beaches such as paradise and super paradise beaches. Initially, there was a good road network, that was the only way to access the beaches. Nowadays, you can take a bus ride till late at night for an easy access.
