NBA Youngboy is 4 real with “4 What Important”
Baton Rouge rapper Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, known as NBA Youngboy (twitter|instagram), has been hard at work these past few months. He released the albums “4Respect”, “4Freedom”, “4Loyalty”, and added them all together with four extra songs in a project entitled “4 What Important”. YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s latest project features guest appearances by Young Thug, Kevin Gates, and NBA affiliate Quando Rondo.
NBA Youngboy dropped his fresh music in a steady stream, with a full project titled “Decided” first, followed by the release of the first three EPs of “4 What Important” over the course of three weeks. He dropped the first installment of his EP series, “4Respect” in late August, and soon after released “4Freedom” the following week, then transitioning to the Quando Rondo-highlighted “4Loyalty”. Finally, the Louisiana superstar unleashed the fourth and final part of this well-orchestrated event and compiled all four releases into one mega treat, the latest and greatest “4 What Important”.
The first tracks start out with him doing what he does best — hitting those real and raw emotional street anthems. Throughout the project, we see tracks from “4Respect” featuring Kevin Gates and showing off his skills, and tracks from “4Loyalty” featuring Quando Rondo and introducing him to the scene.
“4Respect”, the 4-track effort, features a lone appearance from Quando Rondo, who appears on the song “I Am Who They Say I Am”. Other songs include “2 Hands,” “Head On” & “TTG”, all of which feature Kevin Gates. As if fans can’t get enough with the anticipation as it was. Watch the MV for “I Am Who They Say I Am” below!
Next up, NBA Youngboy churned out “4Freedom” before I even had time to fully immerse myself in “4Respect”. The EP’s first track “Drawing Symbols” sets a tone of vulnerability, something that Youngboy has been far too familiar with. He translates the tragic stories of his upbringing into powerful and emotional music. While he may be quiet in real life, it all comes pouring out in this EP.
Finally, “4Loyalty” highlights all the talent of Quando Rondo. NBA Youngboy also features Young Thug on the track “Permanent Scar”, which I personally think is one of the best songs of the series. This bit features a cohesive set of tracks that I am more than happy with the result.

At a mere 18-years-old, NBA Youngboy already has his fans hooked on his story, raw talent, and amazing music. With material that’s always new and fresh, and such promising potential, it’s pretty easy to imagine where this name will end up just a few short years. He has definitely been doing right with all his hard work so far.
