With “Confirmed”, Dame D.O.L.L.A. shows he’s clutch in the studio too
It was one of those shots where you remember where you were when it happened, when Damian Lillard elevated his Portland Trailblazers over the favored Houston Rockets with one incredible, buzzer-beating three back in 2014. Ever since then, whenever Dame D.O.L.L.A. tapped his wristband late in a close game, you knew what he meant: It’s Lillard Time. Now, one of the NBA’s foremost clutch performers takes his talents into the recording studio, and his bars are just as money as his shooting stroke.
Featuring the talents of some of hip-hop’s most iconic names — Lil Wayne, BJ the Chicago Kid, and even the peerless 2 Chainz — “Confirmed” is Dame’s way of announcing that his rap work isn’t just some novelty act. On tracks like “Shoota”, “Switch Sides”, and “Anomaly”, Dame D.O.L.L.A. punches his ticket to rap stardom with some legitimately scorching rhymes, flanked by some of the fiercest mixes this side of Lillard’s native Oakland. The man didn’t have to go this hard, but he still did. It just goes to show that clutch doesn’t stop when you leave the court.
