When Young Nudy came on the scene back in 2016 with his debut album “SlimeBall”, people knew him as 21 Savage’s cousin. Two years on, the Atlanta-based rapper has made it known that he’s a different breed of rapper, crafting a style that revels in relaxed, conversational lyrics, set to beats that flows like melted butter. Listening to Young Nudy feels like hanging out with the boys, driving around town without a destination in mind, passing around the AUX cord and swapping barbs. Listening to Young Nudy feels like home.

“I like lively shit,” Nudy told The Fader, “Shit that makes you feel good”. It’s this guiding musical tenet that makes every Nudy track unique, and his voice has never been clearer and crisper than it is on the third installment of his “SlimeBall” series. Dotted with sparkling production and Nudy’s trademark effortless delivery, it’s an album that thrives on the same hangout vibe its artist lives and breathes.

Young Nudy’s “SlimeBall 3” is your new casual jam

The beats may be casual, but the lyrics are as heavy as they come. Nudy likes to keep it light, but his bars are electric and brutal in the best possible way. In jams like “Robbin and Gettin”, he keeps his poetry straight fire, all over a laid-back rhythm.

Paper, drug extortion, yeah you know we with it, yeah
Hold down SK, shoot up your facility
4L, know the gang stay with me
I don’t fuck with rats and my niggas ain’t bitches
Y’all niggas soft as fuck, y’all snitchin’
Charmin ass nigga, bullshit, you ain’t with it
In the kitchen, you catch me in the trenches
Dope-kickin’, ski mask nigga robbin’ and gettin’ it

Young Nudy doesn’t just got next. He’s got now, and his latest is just more proof of his inimitable skill. As if we needed any more. Give his latest mix a listen on My Mixtapez!
