How to set up a MetaMask Wallet
What is MetaMask?
MetaMask is a free crypto wallet software that operates through a simple browser plug-in or mobile app. It can be connected to any Ethereum-based platform and can store Ethereum-compatible tokens and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) across multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Binance BNB, Polygon, and Avalanche.
It’s also the wallet you’ll need to connect to our free Sigil NFT claim, while the Myria wallet is under development.
Being one of the simpler wallets to use, it can be easily set up in just a matter of minutes.
What’s the process to set up a MetaMask wallet?
MetaMask Installation
- Head to the official website Metamask.io to download the wallet software for your chosen device.
- Click the “Download” button. You’ll be able to choose from the following options:
- Browser: Google Chrome, Firefox, Brave, or Edge
- Android: Compatible with any Android smartphone
- iOS: Compatible with any iPhone
3. Once you’ve made your selection, click the “Install MetaMask for …” button.
4. Once you’ve successfully downloaded and installed the extension, the MetaMask icon should appear in the top right corner of your web browser
5. Click the “Get Started” button, after which you’ll be presented with two options:
Import wallet: Have you already got a MetaMask wallet on a different device and want to import it over? If so, choose this option and input your existing Secret Recovery Phrase.
Create a wallet: If you don’t yet have a MetaMask wallet, choose this option to set up a brand new MetaMask wallet.
6. After you click “Create a Wallet”, you’ll be prompted to create a password. You’ll need to enter this password each time you access your MetaMask wallet, so back it up somewhere safe.
7. You’ll then be presented with your MetaMask Secret Recovery Phrase. It is a sequence of 12 random words that will enable you to re-import your wallet in case you lose or need to change your device.
Carefully copy down each word in your 12-word secret recovery phrase — in the correct order! You’ll then be prompted to type in the 12-word sequence to validate your recovery phrase before you can finish the process.
