Meet Andrew Silber, our Co-founder and CTO!

Andrew has a long and deep-seated love for all things gaming. He always enjoyed playing games as a kid, starting with his Fairchild Channel F console back in 1976. However, his love for gaming really took shape after he started working in the industry — “As corny as it may sound, when I watched people’s faces light up playing games that I made, that’s when I really knew I was doing something that mattered.”

A man of many talents, including speaking Mandarin, French, German, and Vietnamese, Andrew has a lifetime of achievements under his belt. A fun fact about Andrew — at age 9 he took second place in the Southern California Yo-Yo Championships! He grew up in Santa Monica, CA and studied at Yale University where he “earned his degree in Cognitive Psychology (and beer pong)”. Prior to co-founding Myria, he held a 27-year career in professional video games technology development at some of the most recognizable names in the industry, including Activision, Electronic Arts, 2K, Ubisoft, Sony, and Midway.

But coming from the traditional gaming world, Andrew realized there were limitations to what the industry could achieve, and that blockchain technology was the way forward. Speaking of the vision behind Myria, Andrew notes “I strongly believe that blockchain fills a pent-up need in the gaming community for freedom of ownership and the ability to reap tangible benefits from the time and energy invested which simply didn’t exist before with traditional gaming models.”

At Myria, Andrew is the CTO, meaning he is responsible for all the technology — the backbone of everything that Myria creates. However, he says as Co-Founder in the start-up phase, “I have had to wear a number of hats, so perhaps “hat rack” is a more accurate description of my role”.

When asked what the best thing about being part of Myria was, he said “More than any other team I’ve been on, the Myria team feels like I am part of something with boundless possibilities”. And that couldn’t be more true. We’re forging our own path and building technology and systems never seen before in the gaming or blockchain industries. For Andrew, the part of Myria’s roadmap that is most exciting is “the central Myriaverse experience which will be the glue that ties the whole community together”, which he explains, “will enable the whole gaming ecosystem to be much more than the sum of its parts.”
