Dragonary is a fun, fast, and furious tactical RPG battle game, where Dragon NFTs with different levels of rarity and playing power, fight for dominance — and the in-game currency, Coinary ($CYT).

Boasting 1.5million registered users at its height and still drawing in more than 10,000 players every day, the game created by Coinary Web 3 studio was originally built on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC), with a custodial wallet hosted on the Coinary hub.

That was until recently when the company decided to pivot and began looking for a Layer 2 solution that could help it achieve true decentralization, coupled with high security, speed, and scalability.

Coinary and Myria team up

When Coinary met Myria, they found it to be the ideal choice — a blockchain built on Ethereum’s Layer 1 that delivered all of the above plus zero gas fees for players minting NFTs.

Dragonary’s head of marketing, Matias Chababo, says, ‘We decided to move to Myria because we believe that a games-centric L2 solution is better for us than BSC, which caters to a broader spectrum of blockchain-oriented companies and isn’t completely focused on the gaming space.

He adds, ‘Coinary and Myria complement each other perfectly because both companies are trying to achieve the same thing — to introduce more people to blockchain technology through our gaming. Together, we’re in a better position to expand the ecosystem, with both companies benefitting from strong co-marketing initiatives.

Built for security — on Ethereum

‘It’s also ideal that Myria is built on Ethereum,’ he says. ‘This gives us the advantage of having a highly secure, non-custodial wallet for NFT holders and gamers, which is great for the Dragonary community — they can keep any NFTs they have in their own Metamask wallets. Currently, they are unable to do this on BSC because of the technology we are using on the Coinary hub, which isn’t compatible.’

This capability is vitally important for Dragonary gamers who want to deploy their NFTs quickly on different platforms.

‘Players need to have their dragon NFTs close to hand either to trade them or have them ready to bring into gameplay where they can start earning Coinary’s native cryptocurrency $CYT,’ says Matias. ‘The higher the status of the dragon, the more $CYT can be accrued during gameplay.’

In addition, $CYT can then be used to achieve certain goals within the game and pay marketplace fees. It can also be used as a governance token where holders and Dragonary community members can vote on changes to the game and have a say in its unfolding roadmap. $CYT can also be withdrawn to a crypto exchange and sold on the open market for other cryptos including stablecoins, or converted into a fiat currency.

Free to play vs play and earn

Dragonary is a highly competitive role-playing game where individuals control an army of dragons. A free-to-play account means that people can try out the game and enjoy all of its features and mechanics without making any financial commitment. The only downside there is that virtual dragons will have no $CYT value and can’t be traded on the marketplace.

For those wanting to play and earn, the NFT account requires the initial purchase of three rare dragons to get going. There are five dragons, which possess varying degrees of rarity.

These are Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary, with a new Mythical Dragon waiting in the wings, soon to be unleashed. During gameplay, seven elements — Water, Earth, Electricity, Fire, Air, Plants, and Ice — can be deployed to attack and defend.

Leveling up and breeding

To increase the rarity of a dragon, a number of lower dragons must be fused. Through this fusion process, a higher rarity of dragon is forged.

The game also has a breeding program where two dragons can be used to generate a dragon-child that absorbs the best attributes of its individual parents, and by default earns a higher statistical value within the game. This breeding element of the game is a notable component when it comes to leveling up, winning more rewards, and $CYT, while helping drive up the market value of the NFTs.

‘Dragons are the most important feature of the game because they are the NFTs and they hold the most value depending on their status,’ says Matias. ‘We’ve minted 200,000 NFTs via the Binance Smart Chain. But what we’re going to do now is transfer all of those NFTs to the Myria marketplace and start interacting with the Myria wallet and the full Layer 2 ecosystem.’

Dragonary is one of many games teaming up with Myria to benefit from its fast, free, and secure Layer 2 scaling solution. If you’d like to find out how to join the growing number of studios making the move to Myria, get in touch with the team today.
