walking by tall grass, i see a cat lying down, enjoying the sun. the scene strikes as a whole, it calls attention by itself. the cat looks at me as i walk, without moving its head, then looks into the void again. i stop, the wholeness of the scene breaks, i center my attention on the cat and move my hand towards it. in a second, it disappears into the grass… if cats could speak they could teach us a lot about how ideas work in the mind, or rather, it would be possible to learn a lot by hearing their common everyday talk.
only an artist would be able to be among animals without being feared. but someone able to do this would sure be wasting his time and abilities by spending them doing art.
