This week Jack and James sat down with John Furno to speak about his coming out story 🌈

We want to connect these stories with mental wellbeing, discussing John’s journey of self-acceptance and his journey from childhood through to now!

There still so much to do with opening up the conversation in the workplace and connecting your coming out story to your mental wellbeing. John spoke openly and honestly about his journey and we thank him for it!

John said

My mental wellbeing was never something I spoke about growing up. As a male, we’re told to stop crying, get over it, be a man and rub some dirt in it… if only it was that easy!

YouGov research has shown the rates of depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions may be more susceptible among LGBT people with half of LGBT people (52 per cent) saying they’ve experienced depression in the last year and one in eight LGBT people aged 18–24 (13 per cent) said they’ve attempted to take their own life in the last year.

As pride month comes to a close, the founders of wellbeing community Livitay, Jack Needham and James Naylor sat me down to speak about my coming out story. We connected on mental wellbeing, discussing my journey of self-acceptance and journey from childhood through to now.
