Improper or insufficient skin care before bedtime leads to morning puffiness, facial inflammation and oily shine. We asked a beautician to tell us about the most important beauty habits you should make part of each of your evenings.

1. Double cleansing

There are probably no more irresponsible people who go to bed with makeup on. Whether you wear makeup all day or don’t use makeup at all, it doesn’t matter: everyone needs a thorough cleansing in the evening to remove dead skin cells, excess sebum and other impurities in addition to makeup.

Nowadays double cleansing is popular. This method came from Korea — the trendsetter in the beauty industry. You wash your face using first an oil-based cleanser and then a water-based cleanser: milk, gel or mousse, depending on your skin type.

And if at first it seemed like pure marketing to sell more products, now research and practice show that the skin becomes not only cleaner, but also more moisturized, and the complexion improves.

If you have dry skin, use cleansers with extra soothing ingredients like rose or aloe. And if you have oily skin, look for products with light exfoliation.

2. Active skincare ingredient

Skin is more receptive to skincare products at night, but it also loses moisture while you sleep. So nighttime is the time to use strong active ingredients.

After washing, apply an anti-aging serum, an ampoule concentrate with antioxidants, a heavier textured cream or oil. Of course, you can also use these products in the morning, but they are usually not meant to be used under makeup.

3. Overnight masks

We usually have more time in the evening to pamper our skin with extra treatments. Take a relaxing bath and apply a clay-based mask to your face to keep your skin clean. And just before bed, apply a hyaluronic acid-based moisturizing mask that will nourish and hydrate your skin all night long.

If you’re feeling too sleepy in the late evening, do this as soon as you get home from work.

4. Essential oils

Essential oils are a great and safe alternative to pharmaceuticals for sleep problems. Lavender oil, for example, relaxes and calms the nerves. Apply a few drops to your pillow, add to a cream, mix with water and spritz into the air or use in a diffuser.

5. Air purifier

Buy a modern air purifier to protect your skin from pollution from the outdoors, as well as indoor irritants: harmful chemicals in finishes, dust mites, and so on. This helps slow down the aging process, improves skin tone, reduces rashes and dryness.

6. Sleeping on your back

Eight hours of face into a pillow hardly adds to the health of your delicate facial skin. There have even been studies that have found that some wrinkles form during sleep. So sleeping on your back is the best option.

Sleep is not only a time of rest for our body, but also an important time for skin care. By following simple tips and tricks for nighttime skin repair, you can maximize your skin care results, and Foreo products can help you get the most out of your skin care routine. https://flip.go2cloud.org/aff_c?offer_id=4&aff_id=2114&url_id=809&source=contbtech
