  1. For a smooth and silky skin, remember to exfoliate and moisturize. Use suitable tools and products in order to get professional and long-lasting results, so you won’t have to worry about it every day before going to the beach. Double cleanse your body using a bar soap first and a body cleanser after, then apply a body scrub two to three times a week. Start using a shower oil as well, it locks in all the moisture and leaves your skin super hydrated. After rinsing and drying, apply a body lotion and mix it with some shea butter for even more hydration. If you want to make your fragrance last longer, try layering: apply a lotion which has the same exact scent as your perfume.
  2. Change your skincare routine from winter to summer: when the weather gets hotter try to keep your morning skincare layers thin but efficient, for example choose a gel moisturiser. Once it gets warmer the skin usually starts producing more oil, so if you’ve been using a hydrating serum all winter long replace it with a niacinamide or salicylic one.
  3. Never forget sunscreen, both on your face and body, even on cloudy days. Start with SPF 50 and then change to 30 and 15 as you get tanner.
  4. Between the salt water, pool chlorine water and the sun, you need to take good care of your hair. The first thing you want to do is rinse your hair before you get to the beach or the pool, because hair is porous and it will soak up fresh water, therefore it will be less likely to absorb salt or chlorine water. Then, use a leave-in conditioner before swimming: applying a small amount of conditioner can help create a barrier and prevent damage.
  5. If you want to lose some weight to feel more confident in your bikini, walk for 30 minutes a day and hit 10k steps: walking is the best cardio for fat burn because it’s low impact and low intensity. Then, meditate or journal for ten minutes a day: it lowers your stress, which lowers your cortisol, which helps fat burn, but also you will feel more proud and confident in everything you do. If you want to level up, try strength training, pilates or yoga 4 times a week to tone your body up.
  6. If you don’t seem to find the right bikini for you, focus on your body shape. If you have narrow hips, smaller legs and carry your weight in your upper body, a high-waisted bikini bottom will look super flattering on you: it makes your legs look long and it’s also really stylish. Whereas, if you carry your weight in your hips, a high-waisted bikini is absolutely going to emphasize and highlight your hips, so try a low-waisted bikini bottom, especially with the ties on the side. If you have a really small bottom and you want to emphasize it choose anything with a seam down the middle, which will give the illusion of more plump, especially if the fabric is scrunched.

If you think that you can’t enjoy yourself during the summer unless you look a certain way, that couldn’t be further from the truth. The point of being in a bikini is to celebrate and relax (on vacation, with friends by the pool…), so you’re meant to be enjoying yourself and having fun. Instead, if you spend your summer worried about weight or imperfections you’re just throwing all the fun away. The best way to have a “bikini body” is literally to just put it on: put that time and energy you would have spent worrying about how you look into having fun with your friends and making memories.
