Exploring the pages of ancient legends, you can find that chamomile, a delicate flower, played a significant role not only in tea parties and bath procedures but also in facial skin care. The healing properties of the plant and its unique effect on the skin attracted the attention of people from different eras. In this article, I suggest you familiarize yourself with how you can use the magic of chamomile to maintain your beauty and youth.

This white flower has a wide range of uses: both for fighting the flu and for disinfecting wounds. So why does such a dim plant have such a wide range of applications? The whole point lies in the truly interesting composition of the plant:

Chamomile flowers contain essential oils, which include terpinene, limonene, and cineol, as well as acids such as flavonoids, nicotinic, ascorbic, and salicylic. In addition, mucus, sugars, protein substances, as well as antispasmodic glycosides can be found in the composition of the plant. Biologically active substances of chamomile flowers have anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent, and antispasmodic effects stimulating bile formation and bile secretion. Apiin is considered especially valuable in chamomile. Apiin helps reduce inflammation, reduces stress levels in skin cells, and helps protect the skin from the harmful effects of free radicals, which makes it a valuable component in skin care cosmetics.

In facial skin care, chamomile can most often be found as a mask or compress. Such masks soothe the skin, and relieve irritation and redness. In addition, such a decoction gives the skin softness. The use of chamomile is safe for almost everyone. The only contraindication to its use is the individual intolerance of the components in the composition of the plant. To eliminate any negative consequences when using decoctions, be sure to perform a sensitivity test before conducting a cosmetic session.

It is recommended to use chamomile-based masks for the following skin imperfections:

excessive dryness of the skin,

skin’s tendency to irritation,

inflammation and/or acne on the face,

pigmentation of the integument,

swelling of the eyelids,

loss of elasticity and the appearance of age-related wrinkles.

How to make a medicinal decoction of chamomile by yourself?

Pour one tablespoon of the dried plant (which can be bought at a pharmacy) with a glass of boiling water into a metal container. The solution must be heated in a water bath for fifteen minutes. After the time has elapsed, the broth must be removed from the heat and allowed to infuse and cool for half an hour. In half a cup of the finished solution, add boiled water at room temperature. Such an infusion of chamomile cleanses and moisturizes the skin, eliminates inflammation, and lightens age spots. It is recommended to use such a decoction three to four days a week, in the mornings and evenings.

Another way to use chamomile for skin care is to prepare cosmetic ice. This is an excellent tool for toning and refreshing the skin, which is especially important in the summer. “Cold” procedures stimulate blood circulation and normalize the sebaceous glands, even out the colour and contour of the face. The beauty procedure can be carried out in the morning and evening — wipe your face with an ice cube along the massage lines for one to three minutes. To prepare such ice cubes is very simple: pour the pre-brewed chamomile broth into clean ice molds and put them in the freezer. You can add a sprig of mint or one tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice to the solution.

Stay healthy and beautiful!
