Did you know that the largest and most sensitive organ in our body is the skin? Like all other parts of our body, it’s directly affected by the foods we consume, meaning that when we eat things that are harmful for our health we experience skin problems like acne and wrinkles, or simply dull and uneven skin. Anyways, remember that a balanced diet is not enough if you want healthy skin: make sure to use professional tools and products in your every day skincare routine for optimal results.

  1. Fatty fish like salmon. They are full of Omega 3s, which are necessary to help keep the skin thick, supple and moisturized.
  2. Avocados. They are filled with healthy fats, which are essential to help keep the skin flexible and moisturized.
  3. Dark chocolate. After 6 to 12 weeks of consuming cocoa powder you will experience thicker and more hydrated skin. Just make sure to choose the kinds of dark chocolate with little to no added sugars.
  4. Green tea. It’s known to protect your skin from damage and aging. It’s super high in antioxidants and also protects your skin against the sun.
  5. Sweet potatoes. They contain carotenoids, which help keep your skin healthy by acting as a natural sunblock.
  6. Eggs, especially the yolk (don’t cook it too much as not to destroy the natural vitamin E in it, which is a strong antioxidant).
  7. Red or yellow bell peppers. One cup of bell peppers contains 156% of the daily value for vitamin A, which is great for healthy skin, and 211% of the daily value for vitamin C.
  8. Eat the rainbow of colourful fruits and vegetables. The antioxidants are in the actual pigments of these foods, so by eating a variety of different colors you’ll get even more antioxidants to fight free radicals.
  9. Fermented foods like kimchi and miso. These contain probiotic bacteria that are healthy for your gut, and a healthier gut means a healthier skin. Other foods rich in probiotics are yoghurt and sauerkraut.
  10. Reduce the amount of sugary drinks. They can damage and prematurely age the skin by the processes of glycation and chronic inflammation.
  11. Celery juice. It truly is a natural botox, it has mineral cluster salts that will bind to toxins and remove them out of your body. Not only are you preserving collagen but you’re also building collagen at the same time. It also contains vitamin C which is great for anti aging.
  12. Wild blueberries. They have the highest amount of antioxidants than any other food on the planet (even more than regular blueberries), and they’re a powerful prebiotic. They remove heavy metals from your body, which can contribute to losing collagen and other issues like eczema, psoriasis and rosacea.
  13. Red apples. They hydrate at a cellular level, which helps slow down aging and helps repair damaged skin. The pectin in the apples collects and rids your body of bacteria, viruses, yeast and mould, and the less toxins and pathogens you have the more your body will preserve and build more collagen.
  14. Dandelion. You can drink it in tea form or also eat it and put it in your salads. It helps flush out toxins out of your liver and your body. It’s also high in beta carotene so it’s great for your skin and immune system.
  15. Brazil nuts. They are rich in selenium, a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the skin from oxidative stress and inflammation. It promotes skin elasticity and reduces the risk of acne breakouts.
