Beauty industry offers an incredible variety of skincare products. Some of them are one season wonders, while others become long reigning bestsellers. Usually, new products contain complicated, factory made formulas. Some skincare companies prefer to take a different route by going back to basics and taking advantage of substances that have been known and loved for centuries. These substances are natural ingredients — skincare created by mother nature. What natural ingredients can you incorporate into your skincare routine? The answer is waiting below.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is a valuable source of monounsaturated fatty acids, omega-3 and omega-6. It also contains vitamins: A, B, C, E, D, K and minerals such as potassium, magnesium and phosphorus. You can use it as prevention from premature aging, as it helps to reduce wrinkles and boosts the skin’s elasticity. It also works to rebuild and protect the skin barrier and create a shield against the harmful environmental factors. It contains many antioxidants which take part in protecting the skin from free radicals. It also moisturizes the skin and prevents dryness even in harsh weather conditions. In emergency situations it can also be used to remove makeup. Its nourishing properties can make skin smoother and softer.

Green Tea

Green tea is vastly known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It protects the skin against free radicals and harmful effects of UV radiation. It helps to reduce the signs of sun damage, such as fine lines, hyperpigmentation and uneven skin texture. It reduces overproduction of sebum, unclogs pores and brightens the skin. Thanks to its antibacterial properties it also fights with skin imperfections. Green tea promotes the natural processes of epidermis reconstruction and accelerates the skin healing process.

Snail Mucin

Snail mucin consists of many substances that are popular skincare ingredients, such as glycolic acid, allantoin, collagen, elastin, peptides and antioxidants. Cosmetics with snail mucin have excellent moisturizing qualities. They lock the moisture in the skin while also keeping out all the harmful environmental factors. The ingredients of snail mucin include growth factors that stimulate the production of new skin cells and collagen. That means younger looking skin and fewer wrinkles. Allantoin is helpful in treating minor cuts and scarring. It soothes irritation and leaves the complexion smoother and calmer, while also stimulating cell regeneration. Glycolic acid gently exfoliates the skin, targeting dry and rough patches and revealing a younger, brighter complexion.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has many different uses in skincare and selfcare. You can take advantage of its qualities to gently remove eye makeup. It also helps to soothe skin irritation, especially after tanning or shaving. Applying it as a lip balm is another great idea. If your skin is prone to dryness, you might also use it as a face moisturizer. Other popular uses of coconut oil include oral hygiene: you can either prepare a natural toothpaste based on it or rinse your mouth with it. It is also recommended for hair oiling, conditioning your nails and cuticles. It can also be a key ingredient of a home-made body scrub.

Manuka Honey

One of the most important qualities of manuka honey is its antibacterial function. That makes it a perfect product for skins that struggle with acne, blemishes and imperfections. Thanks to its lightening properties, it helps to fade hyperpigmentation and acne scars. It might decrease pain in wound healing processes and bring relief to physical discomfort caused by many skin conditions. Manuka honey is rich in antioxidants such as phenols and flavonoids. Skincare products with that ingredient can help delay the development of wrinkles and fine lines and leave your skin looking healthy and young. They might also be used to soothe irritation and inflammation.

Shea Butter

Shea butter is a rich source of fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin E, polyphenols and phytosterols. It nourishes and hydrates the skin, creating a soft barrier that seals in moisture. It helps to regenerate damaged skin and reduce redness. It can work as a shield against harmful environmental factors, such as wind, extreme temperatures and UV radiation. Shea butter is an amazing ingredient for prevention of stretch marks and fighting cellulite. It delays skin aging processes, boosts skin’s elasticity, softens it and supports proper functioning of the natural skin barrier.

Acai Berry

Acai berries are an amazing source of antioxidants that help your skin to fight against free radicals — the environmental factors that cause hyperpigmentation, dark spots, wrinkles and premature aging. Acai skincare products support your skin barrier in maintaining the optimal level of skin’s hydration. They also have anti-inflammatory properties which help to soothe irritation and are especially helpful for people with skin conditions like acne and eczema. Acai berry skincare supports collagen synthesis, which prevents the loss of firmness and elasticity of the skin. It also contains vitamin C that has strong brightening qualities.

Roses

Rose is a powerful antioxidant which can protect your skin from the damage done by free radicals. That not only means premature aging prevention but also skin cancer protection. Rose essential oil will work to protect your skin, while also reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, cosmetics with rose extracts will be perfect for people struggling with skin conditions like acne and eczema. They will help to visibly reduce redness and irritation. Roses are rich in vitamin C and vitamin E, which boost collagen production. They will work to hydrate the skin, lock the moisture inside and protect it from the harmful environmental factors. Products containing rose water help to balance out moisture and control the excessive production of sebum. They also help to maintain the natural pH balance of the skin.
