Skincare routine for clear skin

To clear your skin you must start with the right skincare. Don’t try risky DIYs, reach out to a professional dermatologist and invest in safe skincare products and devices, which will give you great results without a single worry.

Double cleanse every single night, whether you’re wearing makeup or not: you really wanna make sure everything is completely removed before you go on with your skin steps, otherwise you’re just going to keep building up dirt and oil on your skin, which could be a cause of your breakouts. Use an oil cleanser and then a gel cleanser. After that, apply a toner to hydrate your skin and a serum, preferably with niacinamide or salycilic acid. Use a LED or EMS device with blue light: blue light has anti-acne and sebum-regulating power, therefore it works wonders on oily and combination skin. Blue light therapy uses blue wavelengths to penetrate the skin and kill acne-causing bacteria, so it’s great for people who want to prevent acne, have acne or hyperpigmentation. It targets sebaceous glands to become less active and it is a strong anti-inflammatory. Don’t use it every single day or you’ll worsen your hyperpigmentation: you need to give your skin time to heal and calm between each LED therapy session, or your skin will become too dry as a consequence of the sebum-regulation. Finish your routine with a moisturizer: products which are described as “anti acne” can sometimes be too drying, but breakouts really need hydration.

Anti acne tips

Acne breakouts have different causes depending on their location. If you’re getting breakouts around your hairline it comes from leftover cosmetics, dandruff or your hair products; if it’s on the upper cheek area it may come from your phone, your pillowcase or again your hair products; anything in the lower third of your face around your jawline is hormonal, so you have to fix your hormonal imbalances, while around your mouth it’s from greasy foods or non-comedogenic products like lip balms or masks; breakouts in your forehead region and nose area are going to be from poor digestion, poor diet and/or stress.

Skin problems are a reflection of what’s going on inside. First of all, you need to look at your diet. This may mean cutting out foods for a while just to allow your body to heal, so it won’t be sensitive to those foods anymore. Then, make sure to eat regular meals. Your cortisol, the stress hormone, will be sky-high if your body thinks it’s starving because it’s being fed at different times: eat at the same times everyday, this will help with your stress levels but also with your blood sugars.

Eat a complex carb, a healthy fat and a protein every meal, preferably 30 grams of protein. The best foods to fight acne are microgreens, berries and lemon. Microgreens like sunflower sprouts and broccoli sprouts contain phytonutrients called glucosinolates that help your liver better detoxify, which will help your body maintain hormonal balance. Broccoli are also powerful detoxifiers that eliminate excess estrogens. Dark berries are very rich in vitamin C, they are very important in the production of collagen, rich in fiber and anti inflammatory phytonutrients. In addition, one of the best things you can do for your skin is to add some freshly squeezed lemon to a glass of water and drink it first thing in the morning when you wake up. Lemons are a great source of vitamin C and they help with the elimination of excess hormones, waste and toxins.
