Summer holiday season is fast approaching, promising European sun and beaches. Skincare is a concern for many when heading on a beach holiday. Which products should you pack? Should you take your entire skincare routine? How can you avoid getting acne from sun cream? Innovative skincare solutions can help to fully cleanse your skin to remove sun cream build up.

Travelling by plane can be exciting, but it can also be taxing on your skin. Long flights can lead to dehydration and acne from sleep deprivation. When you arrive on your holiday, the chlorine from swimming pools can dry your skin and hair, and UV rays can lead to sunburn, dry skin, and fine lines.

Here are some tips so that you can fully enjoy your holiday and not worry about any skin concerns.

Layer on the sun cream

Protecting yourself against UV rays is crucially important when on holiday, as the UV is generally higher and thus more damaging to your skin. It is important to apply sun cream before you leave the house in the morning, and be sure to reapply every few hours, and after you go swimming.

Focus on hydration

Swimming in pools and the sea, as well as exposure to sunlight, can dry out your skin. Holiday skincare should be focused around intense hydration, applying rich moisturisers at night so your skin can recover.

Cleanse thoroughly

Your skin can easily accumulate a build up of products when on holiday, particularly if you are applying layers of suncream and then swimming in the pool and the sea. You are likely to also have sweaty residues on your skin if you have been in the sun all day. It is important to make sure you properly cleanse in the evening so that your skin can breathe over night, and you don’t end up with clogged pores.

Use serums

If you are concerned about signs of premature ageing, exposure to the sun can make fine lines and wrinkles more prominent. Using a hydrating serum at night can help to bring moisture back into your skin, and avoid signs of ageing and dryness.

Use gradual tanner

When on holiday, it can be tempting to lay out in the sun all day and try and get tanned. This can be very damaging for your face and body, and can lead to skin cancer. Try using a gradual tanner in the form of a moisturiser or a fake tanner before your holiday, so you can better resist the temptation to spend hours tanning your body. You can go into your holiday feeling confident and tanned, and avoid skin damage in the process.

Bring a small part of your daily routine

If you are someone who has a 12 step skincare routine, it can be stressful when you go on holiday to decide what to take and what to leave behind. If you can try and fit smaller versions of your daily products in your suitcase, by all means take the whole routine with you. But it can help to condense your usual routine into the most important steps, so you can ensure glowy skin on holiday but you are not overwhelmed by all the products.

Wear light makeup

When it is hot and humid, heavy makeup can lead to clogged pores and sweaty makeup, which is not a good look. Try and keep makeup to a minimum, which will be beneficial when you are swimming and spending a lot of time on the beach. Your skin will have a chance to breathe, and will thank you. Try using a bronzing glow BB cream or tinted moisturiser instead of foundation for a beachy glow.
