“Please, enlighten me on how she’s doing that, Agent,” Jag responded, crossing his arms and leaning back against his vehicle.

Tall, weathered brick walls enclosed the narrow passage where Jag’s 4Runner was parked. He inhaled fumes of food rotting in the dumpster next to his car.

Agent O’Brien, dressed in a suit and tie, leaned his shoulder on the brick surface of the building opposite Jag’s vehicle. O’Brien gestured with his head toward the box on Jag’s passenger seat.

“That box right there. Lorna gets knockoff high-end items from overseas and sells them here on the black market. She uses you to deliver them to the buyers. Our Boston office has been investigating her for the last six months.”

Using controlled movements, Jag turned his head to look for the black truck that had been following him. No other vehicles were nearby.

“You’re saying Lorna’s selling illegal stuff?” Jag stared into the officer’s sunglasses to keep the appearance of eye contact.
