1. Sensitive and Weakness are Not Synonymous

Society may have led you to believe that your sensitivity is a problem, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Highly Sensitive People (HSP) and empaths possess a sensitivity that allows them to connect deeply with the world around them. They are acutely aware of themselves and the universe, often picking up and sometimes even absorbing the thoughts and feelings of others, like sponges. It can be overwhelming for sure.

I can relate to this as there is always something weighing on my mind. Growing up as a highly sensitive person, I felt emotions intensely and deeply. I never knew how long the sting of someone’s words would linger or how deeply they would affect me. I often felt odd and different, like something was inherently wrong with me. It became necessary to shield and protect myself from certain people, places, and situations.

Relationships, in particular, were especially painful. I felt everything — both the joys and sorrows — so deeply. When a relationship ended, I would watch the other person move on swiftly while I found myself lingering in the past for…
