5 Powerful Steps to Overcome Inner Emptiness
The hidden treasures of the void
The feeling of a void in us is what drives us together. It's the feeling of emptiness lurking around the corner that makes us go out and seek comfort in community, in relationships, in connection. It's this undefinable feeling of when everything subsides that there would be a big black hole opening, eating us alive!
Very often unconsciously to avoid this feeling inside we seek things, circumstances, and people outside to help us fill the void. Although all of this is just a cover-up. It's a warm blanket that's being thrown over the emptiness feeling, but inevitably it does not make it go away, nor does it cure it.
It can be the oh so many meet-ups, workshops, or trainings. Or it's the chocolate cakes, tinder dates, and bar nights. While nothing of this is bad in and of itself, it can be a strong distraction from the emptiness inside.
But the only thing that helps the emptiness to disappear for good is an honest deep look within, to inquire what is hiding inside the emptiness feeling! Because the emptiness is not empty, it's actually full of treasures of our Soul that are waiting to be discovered.
The deeper we dive into ourselves, take time out to just be with us, inquire what's sitting underneath the uncomfortableness of being alone, and check-in what ideas come forward when we spend time listening to the soft voice of the heart, we might be surprised how full of inspiration and guidance this emptiness is!
Fill yourself with Joy
In order to truly fill the emptiness, start with finding your Joy! Whenever you connect with things you enjoy, with activities that lift you up, with food that enlightens your spirit, with new classes that inspire you, and with people that make you smile, fulfillment becomes your second name. Joy is one of the highest vibrations next to love, so the more you connect with your Joy, the higher you get!
Make new friends
Another way of sparking your serotonin levels, the feel-good hormone, and triggering the bonding hormone oxytocin, is to hang out with like-minded people. The more you find your tribe, the more your heart opens and you feel naturally comfortable in your own skin.
The more you feel comfortable in your own skin, the more nourished you feel. Making new friends through workshops, a meet-up, Couchsurfing, or chatting up a stranger in a café is a great way to find inspiration in the NOW, through the life of a new person, by learning something about another lifestyle, culture, passion, or by trying out unusual activities together. A dose of inspiring personal contact makes the heart sing.
Travel often
Travel is what opens the heart, mind, and Soul and aligns us with our inner compass. By leaving the routine behind, we enter a blank canvas that intuitively connects us with the right people and places that trigger our deepest interests and spark our imagination. Travelling is also a reboot for the mind.
By immersing ourselves in new cultures, finding new places, and eating different types of foods, we not only explore the outer landscape but also our inner landscape! Traveling helps to empty us of old stories, brings in fresh winds of inspiration, deep relaxation, and an inner knowing of where we are heading. Even if we are not aware of it at the moment. The clarity usually sets in after the trip is over.
Chase your dreams
Work to live, but don’t live to work (unleast your work is your highest Soul's calling and then it's not called work anymore). If there are dreams you have been procrastinating on, if there are ideas you keep talking about, but are not putting into practice, if there is a deep desire to create something unique and meaningful in your life, step into it today! Right now.
No more delaying, no more filling the void with outside activities that distract you, no more playing small and downplaying your own visions, dreams, and desires! You only live once.
Your dreams are the fuel for your soul and the direct link to masterful manifestations! They are the fiber that the Universe is made of and the stardust of your greatest potential!
As the Holstee manifesto reads: ‘This is your life. Do what you love and do it often. If you don’t like something change it. If you don’t like your job, quit. Stop over-analysing. Some opportunities only come once, seize them. Live your dream and share your passions.’
Create, create, create!
Creativity is the healer of the Soul. It's what brings you in flow with life. It's what connects you to your Source and helps you to process emotions without needing to see a therapist. Creativity allows you to see what you are capable of creating, allowing you to be proud of yourself! It helps you get into the zone while also tapping into healing and inner calm. It's a catalyst. Creativity for yourself and others is a form of Soul growth, allowing you to overcome shame and share your true Self with the world without a mask.
Furthermore, creativity activates your Hara Center, the place that Taoists describe as the seat of your vital life force energy, the fuel that aligns you with life!
So today, start embracing your emptiness and dig deep to see how many nuggets of gold you can find in there!
