Self-esteem is a catchall phrase for your overall sense of value. It depends entirely on how you see yourself. Do you hold a high opinion of yourself, a low opinion, or bounce between the two?

As someone who has struggled with low self-esteem for a large part of my life, I can happily report improvement. For example, my personal boundaries are stronger than ever—a clear sign of positive self-worth.

But my self-esteem remains a work in progress.

I still have moments when I collapse emotionally and feel like an unlovable little girl. Sometimes, I worry I don’t fit in and wonder if people like me at all.

I’m not alone in doubting my self-worth, nor are you if you also question your value. According to Psychology Today, about 85% of people worldwide have low self-esteem.

But there’s good news.

Wherever you are in your self-esteem journey, you can use beautiful, nourishing practices to build your self-worth. When you do, you’ll begin to feel more self-assured each day.
