Have you ever caught yourself in a situation where you are trying to learn a new language but somehow you are stuck and cannot move forward? What if I tell you that you might be using an outdated method, which has been proved to be inefficient for most people.

What I am about to tell you might shock you, but the reason you are not learning anything is because you are making the same mistake most people make. Conventional methods of teaching and learning a new language are basically the same everywhere around the world. Most of us genuinely believe we have to pay for classes and listen to someone teaching us how to translate and complete tasks both in class or at home once or twice a week. There is your first mistake. First of all, you are probably learning your target language with someone who is not even a native speaker, which you might think; "Well, what is wrong about that?". The reason why I say it is a mistake is because logically that was not how you learned your mother language.

When it comes to use logic in order to learn a new language, we have to take a step back and forget everything we know about traditional learning methods and rethink how we have learned our own language. If you think about it you will realize that we did it in the most natural way as it is.

Imagine when your first baby is born and in their first weeks of life you give them a book or a dictionary and start teaching them grammar rules and such. It does not seem like something very effective am I right? Babies in their first months of life only absorbs information by listening, watching, interacting and the most important thing, they are merged in an environment where people only speak their mother language around them 24/7.

Is your mind blown already? Not yet? wait… there is more!

Think of how good you are at your own language right now. This is because you have learned it the most natural way as possible, and it took time for you to get this good at it. It was a whole process, rich in details and small steps. If you think, by the time you were able to read for the first time, you were already able to understand what people were saying and you could also speak to them as well. So why would you start learning a new language doing the total opposite of it? Leave grammar for later!

Now that you understand where I am getting to, you might be thinking; "Alright, I see you… but how am I supposed to merge myself into my target language 24/7 if I live in a place where nobody speaks that language?".

The truth is… You cannot! But wait… Do not go yet. You can still get pretty close to it if you follow these few steps I will teach you in this article. Let's get into it.

The best way you can do this is by changing everything around you by making it closer to a more natural environment, such as putting every device you have in your target language, such as your laptop, smartphone, or any other device that allow you to do so. You can also do that to your social media accounts. It might seem weird in the beginning and you probably will want to change it back to your mother language, but trust the process and you will be amazed of how fast you will adapt to it.

It is practically impossible for us not to learn anything we want nowadays with all the technology provided to us. You can watch YouTube videos, you can follow the news on your favorite social media, you can even watch your memes in your target language while scrolling through your phone. One of my favorite things to do is to listen to talk shows on the radio while performing any other activity. It is a way of absorbing information as well.

Everyone has a smartphone with internet access nowadays, and they have no idea of how powerful this simple device can be. It came to the point where we can learn anything for free at any time, so why not take advantage of it? All you have to do is to download some apps to improve your vocabulary, talk to some native speakers online, watch YouTube videos and also watch your favorite TV Shows in your target language. Start thinking about every action you take, everywhere you go, and talk to yourself, use your imagination to pretend you are in a situation where you must only speak the language you want to learn. Create these scenarios in your head where you have no way out but to speak only the language you are trying to learn.

It seems simple it seems ineffective but trust me, if you start doing these simple steps, you will see how effective they are in the long run. There is no magic pill that you will swallow and all of a sudden you will be speaking any language you desire, you have to work for it, and work hard. All you have to do is to start. Start from the bottom and learn every skill on the way, enjoy the process, do not rush it, it takes time, be patient.

We all can agree to the fact that most people are learning another language in order to get more opportunities in their lives such as their career or maybe a better job or even work abroad. It does not matter which one of these goals you are headed to, as long as you use an effective way to get there you will be fine.

The act of being able to communicate with different cultures and make new friends is priceless. Many opportunities will appear for you. The way you see things will change, you will have a different perspective of everything.

Now that you understand the idea of what it is to use logic to learn a new language, you can apply that to your daily routine. Always picture yourself as a baby going through a learning process and try to apply the same method to your current learning process. All you have to do is to take one step at a time towards your goal and never take a bigger step than you can handle.

If you came all the way here without getting bored, I hope I could help you out with this article. Thanks for reading and I hope you can see things from a different point of view now! I wish you all the best in your learning process.

Good luck!
