My Life is a Prayer
When you awaken to who you are, your life becomes a prayer
“…if you are who you are and you know who you are and you live working towards realizing your mission in life, every sound out of your mouth is a prayer, every gesture you make is a prayer, every dance you dance is a prayer .” — Dr. Bayyinah Bello, Author, Humanitarian, and Historian
I have a long list of prayerful folk I grew up loving. And many of them prayed for me. My grandmother prayed for the tiny asthmatic girl-child who could still run faster than the boys. Oh, how she’d pray I would slow down. My grandfather prayed for the little girl on his heels everywhere he went.
My mother prayed for the defiant, scrappy tween, the smallest in her class who sometimes got into fights at school. Perhaps, I reminded her of herself. My Aunt Marie prayed that spunky tween would never lose her fight.
My father prayed someday his daughter would forgive him. My heart opened and I did.
The people I love prayed for me.
