Some People Don’t Want You To Be The Best Version of Yourself
They want you to be the version that best serves them
I’m in a phase of my life where all my relationships are drastically changing. People I once considered dear friends are revealing their true colors — or maybe the colors had always been there, and I’m finally seeing them for the first time.
It all started when I began saying no. Saying no to commitments that drained me, no to situations that compromised my values, and no to behaviors that no longer resonated with the person I am becoming.
I was never rude, dismissive, or disrespectful to anyone. I simply started setting healthy boundaries — boundaries that should have always existed. It’s remarkable how the simple act of saying no can act as a catalyst for transformation, revealing the true essence of the people in our lives.
In some situations, they distanced themselves from me once I stopped giving them what they wanted. In other instances, I gained clarity about their true nature and made the conscious decision to remove them from my life.
It hasn’t been easy, but in the midst of this turbulence, I’ve discovered an unyielding strength within myself.
