Can we start admitting the mind-body connection is a myth?

Connection implies a bridge between two separate entities; our mind and our body are not independent, but one interconnected existence.

Your emotions, when repressed or not processed properly, can have a huge effect on your physical health and can lead to physical issues like repressed immunity, physical pain, and sickness…

Emotions are Energy

…and energy cannot be created or destroyed, according to the First Law of Thermodynamics.

When our sympathetic nervous system kicks in due to a stressful event, our fight-or-flight-or-flee mechanism kicks in. When we can’t process what’s happening, the emotions caused by the stress can’t move through us and instead can get stuck inside of us. We can essentially get stuck in freeze.

Dr. Peter Levine, the developer of Somatic Experiencing, discovered 40 years ago that animals in the wild will tremor and spasm after stressful events. They do this to complete the sympathetic nervous system cycle, and “shake off” the experience that caused them to freeze.
