You Can Be Spiritual and Still Enjoy Meat

It’s not about what you eat, but your intention towards it

What the Mind Focuses on Grows

Your belief that something can harm you will possibly be more harmful to your body than the thing itself. If you are truly spiritual, then you know that whatever you think is what is.

If you eat meat and you feel you are absorbing the pain and suffering of the animal, then you are absorbing its pain and suffering and you carry it as your own. But if you eat a delicious steak and asparagus you made with love and you set an intention for the food to be in its highest form, then the food will be in its highest form and it will serve you well.

When people stop eating meat because they think they will absorb the pain and suffering of the animal, then they are forgetting that everything is energy and dense energy can be transformed into positive energy. And what is spirituality without the power to transmute dense energies?

They are forgetting that they are powerful alchemists capable of transmuting any kind of negative energy. The more sentient the animal, the more emotional energy there is for the human system to transmute but our physical bodies are more than capable of the transmutation of dense animal energy into light human energy.

Food is Energy, and Energy Can be Transmuted

I have been on every side of this debate over whether or not to eat meat. When I first had my awakening, I stopped eating meat altogether because my body was rejecting it. Every time I ate meat, I’d feel really bad. I’d feel nauseated and low in energy. That was because my body was already so dense and dark that I had no light energy in me to transmute any other dense foods I consumed.

I resorted to eating seafood, not because fish, shrimp, and lobsters aren't sentient but because they were the next best delicious thing to eat.

When I hear those who claim to be enlightened stop eating meat and only eat seafood, it makes me wonder, is the fish any less of a living being? Is the shrimp less emotional than the cow?

All animals are living beings that can carry pain and suffering. But now, as an energy alchemist, I understand everything is energy and energy can’t be destroyed. I know that when I eat something, whether it's fish or goat meat, its energies remain inside me until I transmute it.

When I progressed on my journey and healed most of the things that were keeping me in a low vibration, my body called for meat again. It felt right for me to resume eating meat. I’d no longer feel nauseated or low in energy. I felt energized, full, and happy!

The more you awaken, the more your appetite will naturally and effortlessly change and adapt along with the expansion of your consciousness.

If I completely stopped eating meat because I was afraid I was consuming the animal's energies, then I was forgetting what I was capable of. We are powerful human beings.

But every now and then I’ll have a strong desire to stay away from meat. This is normally when I’m doing a body detox, fasting, or doing some important healing work. And then again, I’ll have a strong desire for some steak and asparagus or some Popeyes.

Whatever my body wants, I listen.

Truly Spiritual People Don’t Judge The Lifestyle of Others

The universe of vegans and vegetarians is populated with people who claim to be spiritually enlightened and know everything but don’t let that intimidate you. It isn’t our place to judge.

We must do what works for us and allow others to do what works for them without trying to turn them off in subtle ways.

Some religions eat certain things, and others don't. Some people follow strict belief systems based upon their own religious affiliation and expect the entire world to follow those beliefs.

I however perceive this to be controlling and forcing all to adhere to strict beliefs that only apply to them.

If you feel that not eating meat is best for your lifestyle and your spiritual needs, or even if you’re simply looking to spare the lives of animals, then that's what you must do. And it doesn't mean that's what I should do too.

As spiritual people, what we shouldn’t do is use passive-aggressive ways to try to turn people off from enjoying their food. The goal is not to judge others by what they choose to eat, and we shouldn't make them feel bad either.

Those periods when the sight of meat makes me want to throw up, I don't judge and discourage those who eat it because if they are enjoying their food, then it's resonating with their body and that should be okay.

As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.

One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him.

Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind — Romans 14:1–4.

Your Body Tells You What It Needs

I woke up to the reality that your body tells you what it needs and we must listen to the body.

Listening to the body is learning to feel the heart and what it's trying to tell you.

There’s no denying that abstaining from meat during important spiritual work can help a person feel lighter, alert, and more aware which a diet of excessive meat seems to disrupt.

Sometimes my body craves green smoothies. This is when I’m detoxing my body and getting rid of dense energies. Other times I need salads and other green foods for when I’m healing trauma and pain. I crave fruits when I’m fasting and want to feel light in my body.

And when the work is done and I’m successful, I reward myself with a delicious bowl of fufu and some goat meat — raised with care, cooked with love, and enjoyed with the intention that the animal is a reflection of how good the universe is to me. I eat my food and I feel good!

This to my perception is my higher path.

You must trust yourself and what you perceive to be right. Sometimes you actually need that steak and asparagus because it’ll serve the body. And other times you just need a piece of dry celery because it's what you need.

Being able to listen to the body takes a bit of effort. It’s listening to every cell of the body, asking them what they need, and referring to the heart for an answer.

We must also learn to be aware of how the body responds to foods.

Allergies, discomfort, feeling low in energy, nausea, etc after eating meat could be a sign that the body doesn't need it. Our bodies are highly intelligent and are always communicating with us.

Every cell within your body is clever in its ability to let you know its needs and doesn’t need.

The more you awaken, the more your appetite will naturally and effortlessly change and adapt along with the expansion of your consciousness.

Do What Feels Right For You

I’ve witnessed people who need protein from meat but force abstinence because of the scary things people say about meat and then become very weak eating a diet of only fruits and veggies. I’ve also witnessed other people become very ill after eating meat.

There may be times where your body requires you to eat meat and times where it needs vegetables.

We must be wise and aware of what we need to be our highest selves.

There’s no denying that abstaining from meat during important spiritual work can help a person feel lighter, alert, and more aware which a diet of excessive meat seems to disrupt.

Be Picky With Your Food

What type of meat are you eating, and what is your purpose in eating it? Are you consuming the food consciously? What are your thoughts as you consume the food? How does it feel in your mouth and going down your stomach? These are all important clues to figuring out what feels right and wrong.

“You shall not eat any abomination. These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat, the deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope, and the mountain sheep .

Every animal that parts the hoof and has the hoof cloven in two and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat. Yet of those that chew the cud or have the hoof cloven you shall not eat these: the camel, the hare, and the rock badger, because they chew the cud but do not part the hoof, are unclean for you — Deuteronomy 14:1–29.

And the pig, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you — Leviticus 11:7.

All Animals Deserve Love and Respect

When it comes to eating meat, there are other issues to consider. Like how the animals are raised and how they transition. I have a very difficult time with animal cruelty, and animal cruelty is never okay.

Eating meat is considered immoral because of the suffering and disrespect they endure in slaughterhouses. It involves the killing of an animal and killing is considered wrong because it brings pain, which leads to death. Death is considered to be a terrible thing because the animal leaves this plane of existence.

But spiritual awakening is the knowledge that death is neither good nor bad. Death is a part of life. There is time to be born and a time to die.

Spiritual awakening is the realization that death is nothing more than a transition from one mode of existence into another. It is knowing that nothing is completely lost because everything is energy.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal — Ecclesiastes 3.

Animals deserve all the love and respect we can possibly fathom from when they live on the farm to when they leave the farm and onto the dining table. We must respect the animal no matter what, and not being greedy when we eat is a sign of respect for the animal.

Be not among drunkards or among gluttonous eaters of meat, for the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags — Proverbs 23:20–21

“When the Lord your God enlarges your territory, as he has promised you, and you say, ‘I will eat meat,’ because you crave meat, you may eat meat whenever you desire — Deuteronomy 12:20 (Photo: RitaE)

Final Thoughts

Our consciousness affects how our body responds to food as much as the food itself. If I’m eating a lot of meat, I make sure to do things that raise my vibration and consciousness like fasting and praying.

Spiritual awakening is a personal relationship with the universe and we shouldn't force our beliefs on other people and we should not judge them by what they choose to eat.

If you like meat, then eat it in healthy proportions. God knows that if you’re not physically fit, then you won’t be spiritually inclined to hear His voice. All four bodies must work in harmony for balance to be restored, and that means not depriving the physical body of delicious foods.

Follow your heart and listen to your body. Stop eating meat because it doesn't feel right. Don't stop eating it because of a passive-aggressive person, blog post, or podcast.

Stop eating meat because YOU want to. Eat meat because YOU want to.

Experiment as you feel inspired but do not let others tell you what you must do. They only know what is right for them and they don't know your journey. Be your own person and stand by what you believe in.

Whatever you decide to eat, you should be fully convinced in your mind that it’ll serve your health and wellbeing.

Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer — 1 Timothy 4:1–16.
