Facing your trials with passion and courage is the ultimate love story
Every great story begins with conflict. In The Hero’s Journey, it’s the Call to Adventure — the moment where comfort ends, and the Road of Trials that leads to wonderment begins.
Some of the most breathtaking and unforgettable stories are love stories. A few of my favorite love stories in film include "Ghost," "Love and Basketball," "The Long Walk Home," "Love Jones," and "Jason’s Lyric." As a young adult, I also fell in love with Beverly Jenkins's collection of historical romance novels, such as "Indigo" and "Something Like Love."
Still, whether it’s a romantic comedy that delights and warms the heart or an epic tragedy of Shakespearean proportions, the conflict in a love story unveils the characters learning what true love is and how to truly love.
And it’s often the hard way. The hero or heroine stumbles, fumbles, fights, and grows, eventually discovering how to love with depth, vulnerability, and authenticity.
Life isn’t different.
