Men talk about Bible miracles because there is no miracle in their lives. Cease to gnaw that crust. There is ripe fruit over your head. ~ Henry David Thoreau ~

Miracles in the Bible served significant purposes in God’s redemptive plan at the time. However, this point doesn’t mean that miracles have ceased today. Stop looking in the past for proof. As Wayne Grudem notes, “There is nothing inappropriate in seeking miracles for the proper purposes for which they are given by God: to confirm the truthfulness of the gospel message, to bring help to those in need, to remove hindrances to people’s ministries, and to bring glory to God.” Miracles still happen, and Christians should avoid the two extremes of seeing everything as a miracle and seeing nothing as a miracle.

In today’s world, if you want confirmation that there are miracles, look around. Look at the mountains, the valleys, the trees, flowers, rivers and streams. The beauty, alone is awe-inspiring. If you think about what part each earthly element plays, you realize that each is miraculous.

The mountains provide protection from passing storms; the trees and flowers produce oxygen for us to breathe; the rivers provide much-needed water for all living creatures. These are just a few of the miracles found in the earth, and there are millions.
