Loving others as you love yourself is the way to a peaceful life. Peace comes from within the souls of each one of us when we realize our oneness with the Universe. Peace begets power. Gandhi said that power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent than the power gained through threat of punishment. If you’ve learned to “control” other people through threatening behavior, demeanor, or actions, those who are subjected to your power will be responding out of coercion, not out of respect or care for you. This is not a peaceful way to live.
Gandhi also said, “There are many causes that I am prepared to die for but no cause that I am prepared to kill for.” A peaceful person does not use violence against another person or animal.
Attaining peace is an outward as well as an inward process. Inner peace comes easier when you accept yourself as you are right now and stop worrying about tomorrow.
In most situations, we really don’t have a choice about whether we can avoid conflict and stress, but we do have a choice about the decisions we make finding workable solutions, and whether or not we will let it affect us. The decisions we make should always be made with integrity and responsibility. If our goal is peace, then we need to be present in the moment. When in the present moment, we should be open to that experience we are facing. Facing our reality and finding solutions at this time is living a peaceful, spiritual life. Practice peace by refusing to participate in violence, either directly or indirectly. Inner peace is the beginning of world peace.
When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace. Jimi Hendrix.
If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.” ~ Lao Tzu.
We at www.mysticaltalk.com believe that universal peace is our goal. Let’s all try to find our own peaceful way to live.
