Gratitude is so important to living a healthy, happy life. Gratitude is a positive emotion, it is a state of appreciation, which causes us to be humble because we recognize an act of kindness. Giving thanks and expressing appreciation for the blessings and gifts of life is a wonderful thing. Gratitude should encourage us to appreciate gifts and to repay them.

Grateful people experience more joy, love and enthusiasm and have reduced depression and anxiety. People who experience gratitude, cope better with stress. Focusing our gratitude on people that we are thankful for, rather than material things, will enhance the benefits we experience. When we practice gratitude acts, they are done unconditionally to show that the person is appreciated. Gratitude then becomes contagious. Someone performs an act of gratitude for another person, and then that person is usually motivated to do something gracious for the former person or passes it on to a stranger., or often ties, both.

Notice new things you are grateful for every day. Opening your eyes to the world around you can enhance your gratitude of nature. The more grateful we are when we get good things, the more good things we will receive. Gratitude has many benefits as it can keep you from feeling inadequate and depressed. Gratitude leads to appreciation and appreciation leads to love and love leads to everything you desire. It is important to put this positive energy out to the Universe. Showing gratitude every day will change you from a complainer into a positive person who only continues to improve. People will like you better, and your life will be much happier.

Share a smile with a stranger. When interacting with people, make eye contact and listen to what they have to say. Give compliments on little things. Be thoughtful. Give a gift for no reason. Send flowers. Perform a random act of kindness without looking for praise when doing it. Take time to appreciate a child.

“Just an observation: it is impossible to be both grateful and depressed. Those with a grateful mindset tend to see the message in the mess. And even though life may knock them down, the grateful find reasons, if even small ones, to get up.” ~ Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free ~

Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others. ~ Cicero
