Mythereum — Abilities Review (Weapons Expert)

Welcome back to Mythereum! This article is the second in a series of many that will cover all original abilities in the primary card sets. Genesis, Awakening and Survivor all possess unique and differing abilities assigned to their sets, with little to no crossovers for most of them! Today we will cover the special ability: Weapons Expert!

Weapons Expert

Weapons Expert is an offensive ability. It only activates when attacking and provides no defensive bonus. This skill is a top tier skill, when the right card(s) are used. its generally overlooked however, which plays well to the wise warlord. The ability adds 45 attack, and costs just 2 magick, one black, and one white. This is extremely useful, because in the Genesis block, several useful defensive cards utilize grey magick. leaving black/white to sue for offense.

Weapons Expert Cards

There is a total of Ten Cards with the rarely utilized weapons expert ability. They are all within the Genesis block, and provide a unique coverage of stats and colors. These are strictly Human (6) and Cyborg (4) for class spread, so its not very versatile and only covers a small niche of classes.

Of the ten, the top three in order are:

Specimen 74,

Specimen 43,

The Corporal.

Of these three, The Corporal hits the hardest with a natural (85), whereas Specimen 43 hits for (81) and Specimen 74 hits for (75) max naturally. Now, the reason they are ordered in this fashion is their defense. Specimen has the highest natural lasting power at (42) natural defense, while The Corporal has one of the lowest (24) making her a glass cannon. One item to note, is that if you use the Corporal, she will provide your Health a boost, in comparison to the others, which, if playing strictly Genesis, can be the difference between a win or a loss.

Top 3 Weapons Expert

If you do not have access to the above three, all hope is not lost. Several other cards can be used in their stead if needed. The Agent, Specimen 130 and The Major, can all be used with their natural bases, or boosted with MX to match the prime three mentioned above. Keep in mind though, The Major also will be a glass cannon if used in genesis only matches.

A key item to note, is that opponents using cards with defense abilities such as force shield, will generally have a 75 or below combined defense, hence, using Specimen 74 for that extra 2 defense over Specimen 43 can mean the difference between a win or a loss, or at the very least card advantage. These cards are very easy to use due to their unique magick breakdown, so plan carefully, and you may very well see yourself winning match after match!
