Prometheus became a mentor to Zeus on many matters. Beneath actions like giving fire to humanity there is a significant symbolism. The gods taking fire and Prometheus returning it to humans might symbolize a real event from ancient times. When Prometheus returns the fire, the gods punish him by chaining him to the Caucasus Mountains, where a raven continuously eats his liver which means that ancient people understood the liver’s ability to regenerate.
