A Game of Testnets
We’re over 500,000 blocks in on the most successful Cosmos Testnet yet. Prior to that, we participated in the 6001 Testnet which added slashing and wound down in order to correct a few major staking bugs. Before that was a multi-week run of Gaia 5000, which brought the first implementation of staking and rewards. The Testnets are coming fast and furious.
Each Testnet improves the Cosmos network and deepens our experience providing best in class validator services. Moving forward, we expect the Testnets to launch at an accelerated pace as the Cosmos team challenges the validator community in a Hunger Games style competition that will stress test our security, uptime, and resilience. Bring on the challenge!
We’ve also seen solid ecosystem progress:
- Launch of Cosmos block explorers from Interchain and Figment
- 42 projects in the Cosmos / Tendermint Ecosystem and growing
- Network rollout update (note: ATOM transfers will be disabled at launch)
- Cosmos roadmap is stale but will be updated by June 29
- Yes, Cosmos will launch in 2018 (expect phases)
- Reddit AMA w / Cosmos devs including list of features still outstanding
- Jae Kwon shaved his head as promised
Our participation as a validator keeps us encouraged that the Cosmos team is taking steps to launch a quality network. And the importance of testing cannot be overstated — we’ve seen the impact of a rushed launch and it’s not pretty.
If you’re one of our prospective Cosmos stakers, there’s nothing required on your side yet. We’ll keep hardening our validator and updating you as we continue in the Game of Testnets.
Stay tuned.
