Hola, travelers!
MyWanderlust, born to assist you to discover places, help you travel more and together inspire everyone to travel, is ready to take the next leap today.
We started our journey few months back, with allowing travelers to create a beautiful looking travelogue — a timeline of their travel journeys. This version 1 (or more aptly version 0.1) was an About.me for travelers. Sort of.
We needed that to solve the chicken-and-egg problem that we faced due to which we couldn’t produce meaningful recommendations without having interesting travel data. And without interesting photos, posts and other data there wouldn’t be much of a community. So we put everything else on hold and focused just on the travelogues for the alpha. And we got a hearty response!
Thanks to the 200+ travelers who were willing to check out our unfinished, and, at so many times buggy web-app, and provide their inputs, that we’ve made progress. Thank you, bravehearts!
We’re today moving from alpha to beta stage which is just another way of saying that we think it’s more stable, better representative of the direction we’re heading to.
So with today’s beta, we bring to you a Feed, Place pages, Community Questions, and Travel recommendations. Besides that, your timeline is further improved helping you express yourselves even better.
Your travel feed, which is aimed to inspire you to travel, discover amazing destinations with personalized travel recommendations, will also assist you with the travel research for places where you want to go, and keep you updated about things you might have missed!
Place pages are a great way to find which places travelers love in any region, discover nearby places, see travel guides to select places, and see frequent travel related questions people ask about the place. Check out India page to start exploring the country.
We’ve also sprinkled some Gamification magic to see if we can motivate people to travel more. (Our inspiration for this is the stackoverflow gamification)
It’s also time to unveil the public beta of our Android app on Play Store.
If you like to travel, we’d love to have you onboard as part of this travel community. We’re still evolving so still far from perfect, but with your help, we’re pretty sure we’ll get there. So all your inputs are super-welcome!
