Professional vs Friendly Moves — Which is better?

We deal with people…a lot of people! And sometimes, we get ourselves a little “too” close to some of the personal and a little unfortunate events that take place in our clients lives. This 3rd article in a series of 6, tells some of the events that we felt worth sharing!

Let’s play a little game called Worst Case Scenario… You asked your best friend to help you move. Sounds fine, right? Except, that was before you actually started packing up your place and realized you have slight hoarding tendencies. 100 boxes later, not even mentioning the heavy appliances, furniture and that one sculpture, that weighs close to half a ton by the way, that you bought for R10 from a homeless guy one night after going out. Now that you think of it, how did you carry it all the way up 5 flights of stairs to your apartment? Oh yes, did we mention your apartment building doesn’t have an elevator? Everything still sound fine to you? Would you want to help yourself move? Yeah, we didn’t think so.

That’s not even the worst part though, your friend, being an angel straight from the heavens, still agrees to help you, bless their pure heart. And finally, moving day arrives and the two of you start moving. Everything goes well, all 100 boxes, appliances and furniture is loaded onto the truck you rented. Now, just for that sculpture. You didn’t bother asking for extra help, because the two of you are fit, healthy weightlifters who are up for the challenge! And this is where it all goes horribly wrong…

Two flights down the stairs, due to the immense strain on your muscles, your friend misplaces their foot on the step down and falls. The sculpture slips out of your tired hands and breaks into a thousand little pieces, your friend is still tumbling down the stairs and you’re just standing there in absolute shock.

During this whole escapade, your friend broke both legs, both arms, their collarbone and sustained a pelvic fracture and you damaged the whole staircase of your apartment building on the last day of your lease term. Byebye safety deposit, your bank account is EMPTY because obviously you had to pay for all your friend’s medical bills and all of a sudden you’re filing for bankruptcy.

See why using professional services is always the better choice? Luckily this is just a worst-case scenario and you’ll never have to go through this, if you make the smart choice. Don’t be this person, our ridiculously affordable prices are NOTHING compared to those medical bills. We could save you from filing for bankruptcy!
