After two years of having no face-to-face end-of-school-year rites, Naga City Science High School (NCSHS) holds its 26th Recognition Day to commend students who exhibited exemplary academic performance throughout School Year 2021–2022 at the NCSHS Covered Court on Tuesday, July 12.

With a total of 534 student-awardees from Grades 7,8,9, and 11, the event with the theme, “K to 12 Graduates: Pursuing Dreams and Fostering Resilience in the Face of Adversity,” was divided into two schedules: 8:00 a.m. for Junior High School and 10:00 a.m. for Senior High School.

Mr. Erwin V. De los Reyes, the school principal of NCSHS, gave the opening remarks and introduced the ceremony’s guest speaker, Dr. Mary Ann Papica.

In her message, Dr. Papica shared some of her life lessons and experiences and highlighted inspiring messages for the awardees to carry and ponder on.

“Create your own path. Together, create your own collective dreams for society. Together, set your own standards higher than ours [her generation] that even when you fail to reach it, it’s still as high as ours,” she said.

During the Junior High School academic awarding, 85 Grade 7 students garnered With Honors while 119 Grade 8 students received commendation — four were awarded With High Honors and the rest were With Honors.

Two students from Grade 9 were also recognized as With High Honors and a total of 109 from the same grade level as With Honors.

Meanwhile, for the Senior High School academic awardees, 17 were awarded With High Honors — nine of them are from the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand and eight are from the Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand.

Additionally, 156 STEM students and 46 ABM students were commended as With Honors.

Jara Rema Rose Cañete, a Grade 8 student and Invixxies, a group composed of Grade 11 students showcased their talents in dancing during the intermission.

Both ceremonies ended with the singing of the NCSHS March and the closing remarks given by Dr. Teresita Arlante, NCSHS Faculty Internal Vice President.
