Review of Brontë Mansfield’s, “Like You Life Depends on It”

Thoroughness and Comprehension: (+)

A very fascinating yet heartbreaking story. Through the pacing, including the proper linking to the instances that the reader may not know in full detail of (the murder case), gave me the context that this is a narrative-driven true story. Well done. Two details: 1) With the imagery used and the caption credit, it would be helpful to state the provider of the photo, whether it was yourself or family. 2) The arc of the story had a well paced swell and build-up then it felt like it was dropped off at the end, almost a bit of a hard stop. Perhaps this was a stylistic choice to allude to Savannah’s sudden death. Two more sentences in that last paragraph that pads back to the “Fuck Off Fund” story would have felt Iike a fuller conclusion to this chilling story.

Stretching of creative muscles: (+)

Above and beyond with finding the correct voice and effort to fully explain this story.

Using the right tools for the job: (+)

Invoking nostalgia and book-ending the post with two images from the same scene was a great choice in supporting the story. Well done with ending on the image. In the future, think about using some page break methods (horizontal rules, dots, etc.) to chunk up the story. Also, great use of title.
