Review of Joanne Yj Kim’s “PROJECT chicaGO: Myopic Books”

Thoroughness and comprehension: ✔️

Stretching of creative muscles: ➕

Using the right tools for the job: ➕

Joanne Yj Kim, this is another solid addition to the PROJECT chicaGO series with some great storytelling set up in the opening and closing; it really set me in the space and made me feel like I was experiencing the comb of books. It’s a bummer the middle paragraphs were not as strong as the bookended (no pun intended) paragraphs.

With PROJECT chicaGO, what really makes it shine is this sense that the reader is traveling along as you explore a new place, taking in all the senses of an environment. It would have been nice to hear examples of books you came across, the patrons that filled the space, ambient sounds, etc. Last week’s Bang Bang Pie post was a perfect example of this.

Other than that, I really enjoyed this latest post in the collection. Thanks again for raising the bar with starting and maintaining such a rad series.
