Review of Joanne Yj Kim’s “PROJECT chicaGO: Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits”
Thoroughness and comprehension: ➕
Stretching of creative muscles: ➕
Using the right tools for the job: ➕
Joanne Yj Kim, I can see the improvements your writing has taken since the very first PROJECT chicaGO. The opening was a fine use of metaphor with the pairing of the dark damp Blue Line with the light warm of Bang Bang. The only major change I would make to this is have the first mention of your review site, Bang Bang, to be linked to their official website.
Otherwise, the photography is beautiful and lend itself to the aesthetic of the location and the warm, personal writing. It was a great attention to detail by placing the time and place of the patrons in the initial photograph; this will give people an idea that this place is quite popular, even on a Monday morning.
Below is what made this review shine, something that added your personal voice and touch:
“I’ve been giving the gray winter sky, piles of snow, deadlines, and busy work too much credit. They’ve only been excuses I told myself over the last couple of months to keep myself away from taking life slow as needed. When it was time for my friend to leave, I went to fill up more coffee on my mug and came back to the seat to finish the leftover pie and think about the “tint of bourbon”s I’ve been forgetting about this winter season.”
The ending was strong and gave a nice arc to the review. Great job.
