Only women who meet Barbie-levels of sexuality, Taylor Swift-levels of whiteness, and June Cleaver-levels of servitude can remain, and they live beneath men who turn footage from Bitch Planet into reality TV while enacting violently sexist policies in the name of social control. Sound familiar?

Review of KT Hawbaker-Krohn’s, “Wimmen in Comics Wednesday: Kelley Sue DeConnick”

Thoroughness and Comprehension: (+)

I love the idea of this becoming its own collection/publication on Medium, I definitely see it getting a lot more legs in the future! Great use of proper linking to external sources, captions, supporting content to the main story. Also, fantastic use of title and pairing with a clever, this is what my mind is thinking-esque, subtitle. Very well done.

Stretching of creative muscles: (+)

Definitely felt the conceptual and creative muscle stretching here. This story has a great tone for the interview/expository/feature style writing. And I learned a lot while reading, which is always a plus in my book. The connection to a shared generational, Americana experience like watching “The Little Mermaid” was a great entry point for prepping a reader who may not be familiar with Kelly’s work.

Using the right tools for the job: (+)

Great use of imagery! In the future, try using some drop caps and pull quotes to shake up the typography and layout to keep the story visually interesting.
