Dr. Louie’s note lets me know that I don’t have pneumonia. She tells me that is a good thing. She doesn’t mention lung cancer. My whole body is limp with relief.

Review of Maryann Schaefer’s, “The Last Waltz With Hypochondria”

Thoroughness and Comprehension: (+)

As a personalized story, this was quite a fun read, especially since I can relate being a hypochondriac. With that background knowledge, it made it very easy to follow along with the story, but let’s think about the other side of the coin. When thinking about writing online, there might be someone that has no idea what hypochondria is. This would have been a perfect opportunity to either have a link to a dictionary definition of the term when first mentioned, or (the more fun method) give more breadcrumbs to the reader as to what hypochondria is. Really amp up the metaphorical language of your expectations vs. reality.

Stretching of creative muscles: (+)

I love the frantic, first person point of view of this story. I felt the anxiety with every line.

Using the right tools for the job: (+)

You hit the mark for everything I expected. Great job.
