Wo WO wO, too many things happened during the Month of May and we have a lot of stuff to talk about. Again this is you from our Nakers community who push us to release all those features in a short amount of time so that you can make the web cool again.

MODEL ANIMATION 💃

We already had animation since the beginning of Naker but one thing we did not have was model animation. A lot of imported model already have animations attached to it and this was a shame that we couldn’t use them in Naker. Not the case anymore as when you go in the animation step and select your model, you will be able to choose between Naker animation parameter or select one animation from the model. And all the other animation inputs work as usual.

POSTPROCESS BY POINT OF VIEW 🍭

We released the post-process in March and it was set in the environment step for your entire Intale. One of our user Arnaud suggests that we could have different post-process in every step of the journey in order to make top-notch effects when the user discovers the Intale. We loved the idea and decided to push it really fast as we are sure this is one feature that will bring a lot of craziness and awesomeness in what you will all do.

SCROLL LINE 🖱️

As our Intale workflow added more and more things depending on the journey progress, it became important to have a way to show that “scroll line”. Indeed as our content does not depend on time but on user scroll because we want it to be interactive, we decided to simply call that the scroll line!

As a start, we only made it available for hotspot visibility so that you can give us feedback before we go further. So when you select a hotspot, you will have a range poping at the bottom of your screen. This range can be moved along the journey so that you can choose when the hotspot will be visible or not.

HDR ENVIRONMENT 💠

Something really important in order to have a beautiful 3D scene is the environment texture which will be used by all the object of the scene to render very realistic material thanks to PBR (See our former article on PBR). For now, we allowed a user to import any images as an environment texture but it didn’t work as you need to have a specific file type that some of you must know .dds, .env or .hdr. As this file are not really common we made a list of them directly available in the editor. You will see that using that kind of file will automatically greatly improve the general quality of your Intale. Plus it allows us to offer new inputs which are the general reflection color in the environment. And the refraction option on any material that brings the possibility to create very cool glass effect.

SOUND 🔊

Some of you wanted to be able to add some sound effect in your Intale. This is now possible if you go to the environment step. For now, you can just set an ambient sound which will be played once the scene is loaded. In the future we want you to be able to choose when a sound starts and stops along the scroll line. You will also be able to set Spatial sound, meaning where is the sound coming from in the 3D environment and those coordinates will be used to create a nice stereo effect.

AND THEN WHAT? 🤗

Well, then this is your turn to tell us what is next. And there is a lot of ways to do that:
- Talk to us with the chat on our website
- Join our private Facebook group here
- Ask for an onboarding session here
