I was happily married to a professional, and my life had everything that was the dream of many other girls of my age. After my marriage, I dropped all my career ambitions and settled down with two cute kids, a busy husband, and a handful of household chores. Days drifted away to months and years.
All important decisions like buying a new car or a family vacation were made by the men in the family. Women were supposed to be just cooking, taking care of the family, and following orders quietly. It was difficult for me to come out of the patriarchal setup of my family and do anything on my own. I was supposed to be happy with everything served on a silver platter but I wasn’t! I was plagued by some sort of existential crisis.
My children grew up and became independent. I decided the explore the world outside of the four walls of my kitchen. I joined Facebook with a pseudonym. I did not dare to show up as myself. I was afraid of…
