For the last 6 years, I’ve lived the most unconventional lifestyle I could possibly manifest.

I’ve refused employment longer than 5 months at a time, to build an identity around. I avoided dating, choosing to focus on spirituality instead. And I’ve had no source of community to crawl back to.

From summer tree planting in the rugged wilderness to volunteering in meditation centers to learning a craft in the Indian Himalayas, I’ve tried to shake off stagnation as much as possible.

Now that I’ve come back to engage with the real world, I have lessons to shout into the minds of every 20-something struggling with the same questions as I did.

Because I did not take the right path in seeking to escape.

Don’t become an artist

I used to shudder at the thought of having a job as my ‘career.’

I would be following a set of tasks laid out by someone else — which another person could do — thus making my individuality here on Earth pointless.
