A Close Call in Delhi: A Lesson Learned
A Hurt Stranger or a Thief?
It was a fine evening, just like any other. I was returning from my parents’ home to the place where Karan and I live. As always, he was on his way to pick me up from the bus station — an hour’s drive from where we stay.
He was late, as usual.
We were talking on the phone as I stood outside the station, waiting for him. Then, out of nowhere, he cut the call.
My heart skipped a beat.
I called him back instantly, then again, and again.
No response.
Panic began to rise in my chest. Something felt off. Karan was never the kind to abruptly hang up without a word.
Minutes passed, stretching endlessly, my mind drowning in worst-case scenarios. Had he met with an accident? Was he in trouble?
Around Fifteen minutes later, my phone rang. It was him. But his voice — his voice was shaking.
Something terrible had happened.
