I Hate Your Interference

There are so many people who like interfering in others’ lives — this is nothing new. And it is okay as I believe that you should be open because people of all kinds exist.

However, in India, the relative culture is particularly strong. Blood relations from both the paternal and maternal sides (called relatives) often have a habit of getting deeply involved in one’s personal life. At times, this can be really annoying, and many of us in India have experienced it firsthand.

Not all relatives behave this way, of course — I cannot make a general statement — but I have observed that many do.

Aunts, uncles, and even grandparents sometimes take an unhealthy interest in what’s happening in our lives, as if they have nothing else to do.

I particularly highlighted unhealthy, because one can discern intentions through years of experience with the same person.

Unwanted Judgment and Gossip

One thing I’ve noticed about such people is that they tend to be jealous of others’ success.
